With Halloween now over, many have turned their attention to the next upcoming major holiday; Thanksgiving. A favorite to many for the meal that comes with it, some wait year round for their favorite Thanksgiving food item.
Now, a map has gone viral showing each state’s favorite Thanksgiving side item.
According to the map, the favorite side item in Missouri is rolls. While in Illinois – and in most states across the country – mashed potatoes are the most popular choice.
Here were a few other interesting discoveries:
- Mashed potatoes are the favorite of 10 states.
- Right behind mashed potatoes is mac n’ cheese- 7 states know that it’s not Thanksgiving without the cheesy, delicious dish.
- While most states are reaching for the carbs, Maine is all about that side salad.
- The south isn’t a casserole belt, but the Midwest can’t get enough – especially of green bean casserole
- Only 3 are reaching for veggies more.
Sadly, unlike most of these viral holiday food maps; there weren’t any strange items beloved by a particular state. When it comes to Thanksgiving; the classics can’t be beat.
The survey was conducted by Zippia, using Google trends to find which Thanksgiving side item each state was searching the most.
