WATCH LIVE: Trump speaks at NRA event in Dallas

Former President Donald Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential candidate for the upcoming November election, went from Minnesota to Dallas, Texas, Saturday to appear at a 153rd Annual NRA meeting.

“Under Donald Trump, our world was safe,” said Texas Gov. Greg Abbott during the event. “We had the most secure border in decades.”

Abbott said that Trump is depending on the NRA to win re-election to the White House. Members in the crowd cheered.

“The 2024 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits will take place at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center on May 17-19, 2024 in Dallas, Texas,” said the NRA of the event. “The Exhibit Hall is open all three days and will showcase over 14 acres of the latest guns and gear from the most popular companies in the Industry.”

According to FiveThirtyEight polling updated Saturday, Trump was leading current Democrat President Joe Biden at the polls, 41.4% to 40.3%

Former President Trump is expected to address thousands of members of the NRA. Trump campaigned in Minnesota Friday night after attending his son Baron’s high school graduation during a break in his New York hush money trial.

Trump pledges to continue to defend the Second Amendment. He calls himself the best friend gun owners have ever had in the White House. At the same time, the country faces record numbers of deaths due to mass shootings. Last year ended with 42 mass killings and 217 deaths, making it one of the deadliest years on record.
