Famed actor William Shatner's wallet was found in a corn bin at a Gilroy fruit stand last week – a true story that seemingly was plucked from a page in Mad Libs.
The celebrity – best known for portraying Captain James T. Kirk for decades on Star Trek – was visiting the Fruit Barn on the Pacheco Pass Highway on July 20, according to reporting from KGO.
The staff at the popular stand found the wallet in the corn bin, prompting the owner of B&T Farms, Gary Tognetti, to contact a friend at the Gilroy Police Department. Tognetti told the outlet he thinks Shatner walked over to the bin, leaned down to pick up some items and his wallet fell out of his pocket.
The 91-year-old bought four baskets of chilled cherries and $2 worth of corn, KGO reported.
After a two-hour investigation, authorities connected with Shatner's agent and sent the wallet through FedEx's overnight shipping to Shatner's home in Beverly Hills.
Shatner on Tuesday tweeted his thanks to B&T Farms, which runs the stand, and the Gilroy police department for returning his lost belongings.
