A Houston woman who was swept up in a love triangle is now facing charges that she orchestrated the murder of the woman she had been dating, along with her husband and the couple's young daughter.
Alexus Chenelle Williams, 29, is facing three counts of capital murder in the June 2021 shooting deaths of 29-year-old Donyavia Lagway, 35-year-old Gregory Carhee and 6-year-old Harmony Carhee.
Williams is also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the shooting of the couple's 10-year-old daughter, who survived the attack by playing dead, KHOU11 reported.
Williams is accused of concocting the murder-for-hire plot, enlisting her childhood friend Xavier Davis, after Lagway ended their extramarital affair. The breakup reportedly happened a week before the killings.
Prosecutors allege that Williams convinced Davis, 28, to help enact her revenge by telling him he could keep anything he took from the family's apartment, promising he could find several thousand dollars in the home.
"Williams arranged the robbery and suspect Davis was the shooter," police said in a statement.
Williams wasn't at the apartment when the killings were carried out, authorities said, but she's accused of watching the carnage unfold.
"We know that Xavier Davis was in that apartment for a number of minutes. We know that for the vast majority of those minutes he was on Facetime with Alexus Williams," Prosecutor Sean Teare told Click2Houston. "She was able to watch either the murders or either the immediate aftermath of the murders."
Davis was arrested in July 2021 and is facing the same charges. He's also charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon for his role in a carjacking an hour before the murders.
Investigators were suspicious of Williams from the start, but prosecutors said gathering the proper evidence to bring charges took time, the Houston Chronicle reported.
A judge on Thursday denied Williams bail, noting that she attended a funeral for the victims, KTRK reported.
