Woman drives through barricade during Open Streets Pittsburgh event

A woman is facing a number of charges including aggravated assault and reckless endangerment after police say she drove through a barricade at Sunday's Open Streets Pittsburgh event in the Homewood area.

Investigators say Arielle Scipone drove through the barricade at North Braddock and Thomas Boulevard.

They say she struck one pedestrian with her car's mirror.

Then, as she drove down the closed street, Deputy Sheriffs say she began to drive faster and hit a bicyclist.

After refusing to stop, a sheriff's deputy broke the window of her Hyundai Elantra and say she then made racially insensitive remarks to that officer, who is Black.

She was taken to the County Jail.

Pittsburgh social media company oneBURGH obtained photos of the arrest.
