OTSEGO COUNTY (WWJ) - Troopers are urging Michiganders not to venture down into outhouse toilets after a woman had be rescued from one at a Gaylord-area boat launch on Tuesday.
Michigan State Police said troopers were called out to a DNR boat launch at Dixon Lake around 11 a.m. on Tuesday for reports of a woman trapped in an outhouse toilet.
When first responders -- including troopers from MSP's Gaylord post, Conversation Officers with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Otsego County EMS personnel -- arrived at the scene, the heard a woman yelling for help and found her down inside the outhouse toilet.
According to MSP, the woman said she had dropped her Apple watch down the toilet and tried to retrieve it by climbing inside.

She quickly realized she couldn't get out and began yelling for help.
Authorities ended up removing the toilet and reached the woman with a strap. She was then hoisted out to safety, MSP added.
Whether or not the woman was able to retrieve her Apple watch remains unclear.
Troopers issued a warning to the public after the incident, advising against climbing into outhouse toilets.
"If you lose an item in an outhouse toilet, do not attempt to venture inside the containment area," they warned. "Serious injury may occur."
