Drivers from New Hampshire-based trash collection company Zero Waste have been emptying dumpsters for more than 20 years. Hearing screams from inside the truck isn’t something they plan on.

So, when a driver did hear those screams Monday, it was clear that something strange was going on. They checked an internal camera installed in the vehicle and, sure enough, there was a person inside, according to NBC News.

“I have never seen one like this,” said Fire Chief Ryan J. Cashin of the Manchester Fire Department of the incident.

NBC 10 in Boston, Mass., obtained video of a woman being hoisted from the back of the garbage truck in a stretcher. Per the outlet, she was too severely injured to get out on her own and that she was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Authorities believe that the woman was in a dumpster that was emptied into the cargo container of the truck while it was on its daily route. She was then trapped in refuse that was compacted four times.

According to the NBC report, it isn’t clear if being amid the compacted refuse caused the woman’s injuries. Cashin said officials believe she was dumped into a garbage receptacle. However, how and why and she ended up in the dumpster is still a mystery.
