ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - John Hancock and Michael Kelley joined Total Information A.M. Friday to discuss the top political stories of the week.
This week, Hancock and Kelley discuss the third Republican Debate and their takeaways from it, while also talking about elections results like Democrats taking control of Virginia Senate.
On the third Republican Debate, the big moment from it was Vivek Ramaswamy and Nikki Haley clashing with each other and it felt like according to Hancock 'Who was going to get the clarinet solo on the Titanic?"
"They don't like each other," said Hancock. "But I don't know if it will have much of an implication on the elections because Donald Trump is going to be the Republican Nominee."
Kelley said he thought Ramaswamy's performance was 'classless' especially when clashing with NBC White House Correspondent Kristin Welker and Haley.
"I thought he was a classless smock the way he behaved the other day attacking Welker and Haley about her wearing heels," said Kelley. "I think he was trying to attack Ron DeSantis about wearing lisp but Haley took it and ran with it."
Kelley also give his biggest takeaway from the debate, which was that he believed Haley was the best presidential candidate regardless of party.
"Nikki Haley is the best candidate running for president on either side," said Kelley. "I don't really care for her politics, but she's competent, she's making a steady case she knows where she is at. I think she could identify with voters if she ever got the chance to absorb that role for Republicans."
Hancock agreed with Kelley, adding that her knowledge of foreign policy helps her stand out.
"She's so thoughtful on issues across the board," said Hancock. "She can articulate policy positions."
