ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -— Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Ohio Sen. JD Vance agreed to debate each other on Oct. 1 in a vice-presidential debate hosted by CBS News.
The debate will be hosted by "CBS Evening News" anchor Norah O'Donnell and "Face The Nation" host Margaret Brennan, with the debate taking place in New York City.
Brennan, who regularly appears on Total Information A.M. on Fridays, says the vice presidential debate "will be interesting."
"Certainly, the dynamic has changed with a new Democratic ticket," said Brennan. "We'll see Tim Walz go head to head with JD Vance, the junior Republican Senator who is now the one being closely watched as having to be ready on day one to potentially step in and be commander-in-chief if the 78-year-old Republican frontrunner Donald Trump is unable to complete his term."
Brennan says that usually vice-presidential candidates don't really ultimately decide the outcome elections, but there are still some important things that can come out of it.
"Certainly how they showcase their capability to lead will be one of the factors many voters will have to weigh," said Brennan.
"Vance is very quick on his feet, I've interviewed him a number of times, while Walz on the campaign trail has become an attack dog for the Democrats. We will see if we can keep them focus on the issues that matters most to voters."
