ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Voters across the United States don't have a whole lot of time left to decide who they are going to vote for in the 2024 elections.

We are only around five weeks away from voters all across the country to head to the polls. Of course, the most important battle to watch is the presidential race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

While large national issues like reproductive rights, the border, immigration, the economy will certainly play a factor in who voters vote for in November, John Hancock, a Republican strategist and co-host of 'Hancock and Kelley' believes what ultimately the race will come down to is something else.

"I think it's going to come down to turnout and who shows up in the seven (battleground) states," said Hancock on Total Information A.M. Friday. "I think it's going to be extremely close. Donald Trump is not particularly good at focusing on a singular issue. That is not his strength. His gift is entertainment for a lot of people."

Hancock says that while he believes it's going to ultimately come down to voter turnout, there could be a lot of "anti-voting on both sides."

"They're voting because they don't like Trump. They're voting because they don't like Harris," said Hancock. "I think that's going to be as much as a driver than any issue."

Michael Kelley, Hancock's co-host on 'Hancock and Kelley' and a longtime Democratic strategist agrees with Hancock's take.

"If there was one issue that I think is going to be a deciding issue of this campaign, it's Donald Trump," said Kelley. "I think the decision that will ultimately be for those who might be undecided is going to be whether or not you want four more years of Donald Trump and I think that's what the Democrats have to make this election about and turn out their voters."
