ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The Missouri House of Representatives minority leader and a state senator from St. Louis both confirm they'll be seeking higher office in 2024.
Saying "Missouri's never seen a governor like me before," Democrat Crystal Quade of Springfield issued a news release Sunday ahead of a planned Monday event in her hometown. In the release Quade touts she is the daughter of working class parents and a graduate of Missouri State.
Quade says she'll continue to fight for a repeal of the state's abortion ban and to protect Missouri's family farms from overseas ownership.
Several Republicans have also announced campaigns for governor in 2024, in hopes of succeeding Mike Parson, whose term expires.
As for Karla May, a Democratic state senator who formerly served in the Missouri House, she told a Mound City Bar Association gathering Saturday that she'll be campaigning to oust Republican U.S. Senator Josh Hawley in 2024.
St. Louis County prosecuting attorney Wesley Bell and military veteran Lucas Kunce are also among the Democrats making a bid for U.S. Senate.
