American Airlines passengers worried about holiday travel delays may be able to breathe a little easier today. A deadline for American employees including pilots and flight attendants has been looming.
President Joe Biden's original vaccination mandate for federal contractors, including airlines, was set for December 8th. But American and Southwest airlines set their deadline for November 24th, the day before Thanksgiving.

That was making everyone jumpy, fearing massive travel delays and cancellations over the holidays.
But now, the White House has delayed the federal mandate deadline to January 4th to get us past the holidays.
American Airlines is following suit, making the fourth of January its deadline.
As for Southwest, they say they are aware of the new guidance from the Biden administration but have not made a decision on whether to delay that November 24th vaccination cut-off.
