ST. LOUIS (KMOX)- Adam Wainwright is entering the broadcasting world in 2024, with Wainwright set to be calling baseball games for FOX Sports in 2024.
But FOX Sports won't be the only network you get to hear Wainwright.
On Tuesday, MLB Network announced that Wainwright will join the network as an on-air analyst across multiple programming.
Wainwright will make his MLB Network debut on Opening Day on Thursday, March 28.
"I’m very excited to join MLB Network’s All-Star cast for the 2024 baseball season," said Wainwright in a statement. "I love the game of baseball and breaking down the art of pitching. Hopefully, I can bring some expertise and real-life experience to those who are watching at home."
Among Wainwright's assignments for the network will include contributing to MLB Network’s on-site coverage of MLB at Rickwood Field featuring the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants in June.
Wainwright becomes the latest former Cardinals player to transition to broadcasting and work at MLB Network. Wainwright's former teammates Albert Pujols, Xavier Scruggs, Mark DeRosa among those who currently work as an on-air analyst for the network. Former Cardinals players Preston Wilson, John Smoltz, Joe MaGrane, Jim Kaat and Joe Girardi have also previously worked at the network.
“Adam is a perfect example of everything that is good in this game,” said DeRosa in a statement. “From pitching in the game’s biggest moments to impacting lives off the field, this is one of the great guys our sport has to offer. MLB Network got way better today.”
Alongside his future MLB Network duties, Wainwright will be calling baseball games for FOX Sports in 2024, including a game between the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies in London at English Premier League side West Ham United's home ground the London Stadium in June.
Wainwright previously called some games for FOX while still being an active player. Last year, Wainwright joined former Cardinals teammate A.J. Pierzynski and Adam Amin to call the American League Division Series between the Houston Astros and Minnesota Twins.
