CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. (KMOX) - The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services issued a "COVID-19 Hot Spot Advisory" for the counties that include the state's hottest summer vacation destination, the Lake of the Ozarks. It's due to some surrounding counties seeing a surge in COVID cases and hospitalizations.
Camden, Miller and Morgan Counties have all seen increases in daily new case rates in the last two weeks and they are near the counties with some of the highest new case rates in the state: Polk, Greene, Dallas and Webster Counties.
Vaccination rates in Miller (21.1%), Morgan (26.5%), and Camden (32.3%) counties are below the state rate of 39.0%. The new daily cases has increased over the last 14 days by 91% in Morgan, 30% in Camden and 11% in Miller, according to numbers gathered by the New York Times.
Forecasted predict rates in those counties could be 3-times more or higher in the coming weeks, according to public health data.

Missouri has been named the least safe state during the COVID-19 pandemic in a recent study. The state reported 1,180 new coronavirus infections on Wednesday, the first time the daily total exceeded 1,000 since Feb. 11 and the first time the number was above 1,100 since Feb 5.
