ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The Missouri Education Commissioner announced her intentions to step down from her role Tuesday morning.
Margie Vandeven, who served two stints as the state's Education Commissioner, announced during State Board of Education Tuesday that she would resign from her role on July 1, 2024.
"Serving as Commissioner of Education for the great state of Missouri has been the honor and the opportunity of a lifetime," said Vandeven.
Vandeven resignation ends her second stint as Education Commissioner, previously serving in the role 2015-2017 before returning to the role in 2019.
During her tenure, she primarily put an emphasis and focus on expanding technical education and apprenticeships in the state.
