St. Louis (KMOX) -- The gymnastics world is focused on St. Louis this week. The Olympic Trials will determine who goes to Tokyo next month.
The event is taking place at the Dome at America's Center in downtown St. Louis. Among those participating is Simone Biles.
St. Louis Sports Commission President Frank Viverito tells KMOX one key to hosting such an event is the 200 volunteers, who are having to deal with COVID protocols to keep everyone safe.
"(With) the tests to keep everybody safe it takes a complicated event and makes it even more complex," Viverito said.
The men will compete Thursday and Saturday while the women will take center stage Friday and Sunday. Tickets are still available at stlouis2021.com.
The event was delayed a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was supposed to be at Enterprise Center but got moved to the Dome so more fans could attend.
