High schools are working to keep student athletes safe in extreme heat

Stacey Lambert, Assistant Executive Director, Illinois High School Association. She oversees the IHSA Sports Medicine Advisory Committee. They use the WetBulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) as a measure of the heat stress in direct sunlight temperatures for high school athletes. It monitors temperature, humidity, cloud cover & more.
