
AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. (AMC) on Thursday reported a second-quarter loss of $561.2 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
The Leawood, Kansas-based company said it had a loss of $5.38 per share. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $5.44 per share.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of $4 per share.
The movie theater operator posted revenue of $18.9 million in the period, which also did not meet Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $21 million.
The company's shares closed at $4.14. A year ago, they were trading at $11.32.
