Police have arrested a 29-year-old Wichita man on two counts of aggravated assault domestic violence (DV), one count of felon in possession of a firearm, and one count of aggravated weapons violation.

After 2:30 a.m. Friday, officers responded to a DV disturbance with a weapon at a residence in the 10900 block of W. Harvest Lane, near 13th & Maize.

Officers contacted the family of the suspect outside of the residence. They reported he was threatening family and his 29-year-old girlfriend with a handgun and knife, and that he was holding his girlfriend in a bedroom against her will. The man also reportedly threatened to shoot responding officers.

The situation was resolved peacefully after about four hours through the use of police crisis negotiators and a mental health advisor who were on the scene. The suspect exited the home and was arrested without the use of force.  No one was injured in this incident.  Officers also recovered a handgun and knife during the investigation.

This suspect has previously been arrested and convicted on multiple felonies.
