No one was injured following a house fire in Valley Center on Sunday.
Firefighters were called to a residence in the 6800 block of West Glenda Street, near 85th Street North and Ridge, around 3:30 Sunday afternoon.
First responders reported seeing heavy smoke and flames coming from the garage and attic areas when they first arrived. Sedgwick County firefighters reported that the homeowner was inside at the time of the fire, but was able to get out safely. Some puppies that were in the basement of the home were also rescued. The fire was brought under control a short time later, but the home suffered serious damage.
Investigators are still trying to determine what started the blaze. No damage estimates have been given, but the amount is expected to be significant.
