Kansas, Wichita area jobless rates up in November

Preliminary estimates reported by the Labor Market Information Services  division of the Kansas Department of Labor and the Bureau of Labor Statistics show a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 5.6 percent in November. This was an increase from an even 5 percent in October and an increase from 3.1 percent in November 2019. Seasonally adjusted job estimates indicate total Kansas nonfarm jobs decreased by 2,900 from October.

The Wichita are unemployment rate rose to 7.2 percent in November, from 6.6 percent in October, and 3 percent one year ago in November. The Wichita area includes Sedgwick, Sumner, Butler, Harvey, and Kingman counties.
