The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is investigating after an allegation was made against an officer from the Riley County Police Department.
According to a release from the KBI, at 10:45 a.m. Monday June 1st a 27-year old male Manhattan resident approached an RCPD officer and reported that around 3:30 a.m. he saw an RCPD vehicle parked outside his residence. He claims that he approached the car and was assaulted and beaten by an RCPD officer. The man also reported an injury, and was transported to a local hospital for assessment. He was treated and released.
At approximately noon Monday, June 1, the RCPD requested that the KBI investigate.
A search warrant of the area was conducted. According to the KBI local law enforcement agencies were fully cooperative. At this time, the KBI has not yet identified any law enforcement officer who was at the location. The KBI claims a thorough and independent investigation will be conducted into the allegation.
