Newton man killed in accident near Park City

A man from Newton is dead after a two-vehicle crash north of  Park City Tuesday. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the accident happened shortly before 3 p.m. The driver of a Buick Century was traveling northbound on I-135 in the left lane when it crossed into the median and was northbound in the southbound lanes. That is when the Buick struck another car head-on which was traveling southbound in the right lane. The Buick came to a rest in the west ditch. 41-year-old Travis Smith of Newton ... who was driving the Buick ... died at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle ... 16-year-old Emily Paulus ... and a passenger ... 43-year-old Laura Paulus ... both of Hillsboro ... were taken to Wesley Medical Center with serious injuries.
