The New York Times tweeted an article Tuesday suggesting the use of the term ‘Wuhan Virus’ could be considered “racist and xenophobic,” ignoring the fact the national newspaper used the same wording in late January and beyond.
“Some conservatives, including Mike Pompeo, Sen. Tom Cotton and Rep. Paul Gosar, are using the term ‘Wuhan virus’ to describe Covid-19. Critics accused the term, which goes against the recommendation of health officials, of being racist and xenophobic,” posted the paper on Twitter.
The Times failed to mention a similar tweet from weeks ago, writing “The Wuhan virus has turned up in Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam and the United States. Investigators in other countries, including Mexico and Saudi Arabia, are evaluating possible cases. Here’s what we know.”
