Officials investigating death of southwest Kansas teen

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and the Clark County Sheriff's Office are investigating the Friday afternoon death of an Ashland teen. It happened at approximately 3:05 p.m. in Ashland, which is located southeast of Dodge City. A 911 call requested assistance after a young girl was shot. Deputies from the Clark County Sheriff's Office and EMS responded to the residence in Ashland and found a 13-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a local area hospital and was pronounced dead. The shooting occurred while the 13-year-old was at a friend's house along with four other juveniles.
