The Wichita Police Department (WPD) has arrested Kathan Whisler, 22, of Wichita on charges of aggravated battery and obstruct.
At approximately 1:00 a.m. Monday, officers responded to an injury accident in the parking lot of a business located in the 500 block of East Pawnee. Upon arrival officers, located a man, 23, on a raised sidewalk, who had been struck by a vehicle and had serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The male was transported to an area hospital.
Through the investigation and examination of evidence, it was determined that Whisler was working for a private security company driving and monitoring the parking lot of the business. While doing so, he became distracted, drove up onto a sidewalk and struck the man and a tree. Additionally, Whisler was not initially forthcoming with information of what had occurred.
The investigation is ongoing and the case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
