Resident at Hutchinson Correctional Facility tests positive for COVID-19

Kansas Department of Corrections Secretary Jeff Zmuda announced Monday that a resident at another KDOC Facility has tested positive for COVID-19.  A male resident at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility tested positive after a recent transfer to Hutchinson from the Larned Correctional Facility.

This male was recently transferred as a security precaution due to his behavior.  He was in isolation at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility and was never put into general population.  Upon diagnosis, he was transferred back to Larned for medical isolation and treatment of his symptoms.

This is the seventh KDOC facility with a confirmed case, with the first cases reported at Lansing Correctional Facility, Wichita Work Release Facility, Topeka Correctional Facility, Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex and El Dorado Correctional Facility and Ellsworth Correctional Facility.
