The Sedgwick County Commission approved a new local health order by Health Officer Dr. Garold Minns, to replace the current order set to expire Saturday.

It maintains a gathering limit of 25, the mask requirement along with 6 feet of social distancing.

Restaurants, bars and night clubs will still have limits on dine-in patrons:  100 people or 50 percent of the fire code capacity, whichever is less. In-person dining and drinking must end by 11 p.m.

Dr. Minns is encouraged by recent trends but used a football analogy to explain why we can't let our guard down yet. "If you're ahead at halftime, you just don't say, 'Hey guys, relax, we're winning.' Same way with this virus. The virus is out there, it's still circulating. By far, 90 percent of us are still susceptible to it," he said.

The new order extends the end date to February 6.
