Strong storms moved through south central Kansas Wednesday night. Heavy rains and strong winds downed tree limbs and power lines around the region. Near Valley Center nearly 200 people were without power for a time where wind gusts were clocked at 60 miles-per-hour.
Gusts in excess of 60 miles-per-hour were also reported near Goddard and Hutchinson. And a gust estimated at between 70 and 80 miles-per-hour was reported near Colwich, northwest of Wichita. The National Weather Service reports just over a half-inch of rain at Eisenhower Airport, with an inch or more common around the area.
