At Monday night's Wichita Board of Education meeting, board members approved a plan to allow fans at fall sports games at a limited capacity. The board approved the plan 6 to 1.
USD 259 Athletic Director J. Means says under the plan, high school participants in student sports and activities, including dance, cheer, and band will receive four vouchers for an event. Middle school participants get two vouchers apiece. The district said this is due to limited capacity in middle school facilities.
Spectators will have to wear a mask and answer health screening questions before entering disctrict facilities. Concession stands won’t be open, but spectators may bring unopened, non-alcoholic drinks inside the facility where they’re attending a game or event. No food will be allowed.
Means says the plan goes into effect immediately.
