A new Wichita library location is one step closer to becoming reality.
On Tuesday, the Wichita City Council approved $500 thousand for the roughly 6900 square-foot project, which will relocate the Linwood Library currently near I-135 and Mt. Vernon Street, to 4195 East Harry.
Part of the project will include renaming the facility.
Council member James Clendenin said this was an effort many years in the making, and was very appreciative of all the partners working on the project.
The council also approved a $2 million plan to replace 548 Wichita Police Department radios, which were originally purchased between 2008-2012.
The city had a bond and note sale, to help reduce city debt.
The sale was approved on August 18, occurred September 10 and will close on October 15.
The city will save $2.1 million from this sale. Since 2009, the city has saved a total of $67.3 million.
