Wichita Police arrested 25-year-old Donovan Harrington of Wichita on charges of 2nd-degree murder, criminal possession of a firearm, and a Kansas Department of Corrections parole warrant.

Harrington was arrested Tuesday during a vehicle stop in the 600 block of South Woodlawn. At approximately 7:30 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a shooting call in the 600 block of South Armour Drive. Upon arrival, officers located 27-year-old Miguel Tapia outside of a gray Nissan Pathfinder with gunshot wounds. Tapia was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The investigation has revealed that Tapia was driving the Pathfinder with Harrington, and 19-year-old and 20-year-old females as passengers. An argument ensued between Harrington and Tapia, and Harrington shot him. Harrington and the passengers ran from the vehicle and flagged down an unknowing driver to get a ride.

This incident was not random, and it remains under investigation. Harrington had previously been convicted on several felony crimes and is currently on parole through the Kansas Department of Corrections.
