Wichita Police have arrested 27-year-old Daniel Corrieri of Wichita for impersonation of a law enforcement officer, possession of a firearm while under the influence, and DUI.

Around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, a person reported being approached by Corrieri in the 9900 block of East Harry. Corrieri was wearing a bullet-proof vest, a law enforcement style duty belt and identified himself as a WPD Officer. He was driving a white, Hyundai Elantra that was equipped with multi-colored lights, similar to those in emergency vehicles.

Officers located Corrieri at Harrison Park in the 1400 block of South Todd. He was armed with a handgun and officers later recovered a second handgun inside of his vehicle.

Officers conducted a DUI investigation and found Corrieri to be impaired.

If you were pulled over or contacted by Corrieri, please make a report with WPD Case Desk at 268-4221. Citizens can always verify the validity of an officer by calling 911.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), and other local law enforcement agencies around the state have identified around 10 reports of law enforcement impersonators stopping Kansas travelers. So far, no travelers have reported injuries or stolen property during these incidents.
