Moody Blues drummer Graeme Edge dies age 80

Drummer Graeme Edge, the last original member of the British band, The Moody Blues, died Thursday at the age of 80.

Edge was born in Rocester, Staffordshire, in 1941, and according to the band's official website, he then moved to Birmingham with his family.


In 1964 he joined with Ray Thomas and Mike Pinder to form the Moody Blues.  Their first album, The Magnificent Moodies in 1965, (Released as Go Now in the US), featured future member of Wings, Denny Lane as lead singer.

In October 2013 Edge and the Moody Blues, including Justin Hayward and John Lodge, played the Hartman Arena in Wichita.

Edge retired from touring in 2018 and was the only founding member to stay in the band since its founding. 2018 was also the year the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Edge's cause of death has not yet been released.
