Travel website Beach.com analyzed search data for all 50 states to find each state’s most popular ice cream flavor. One clear takeaway is that Neapolitan ice cream is the clear American favorite, ranking #1 in 19 states. America’s second-favorite ice cream is chocolate, ranking #1 in nine states. Out of 421 possible flavor options, there are 39 unique #1 favorite ice cream flavors across the 50 states.
We are one of those 39, Kansas is the only state in the union who's favorite ice cream flavor is Oreo. Kansas also apparently loves Coffee Almond Fudge ice cream. Neighboring Nebraska and Oklahoma as well as Iowa favors Peppermint Bark flavored ice cream. While Missouri enjoys something called Black and White Cookie and Colorado favors Reese's Chocolate.
Regional flavors reign supreme. States are proud of their local frozen culinary inventions, such as Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania's local love ,teaberry ice cream, is made with the eastern teaberry fruit and is a Pennsylvanian invention. In fact, if you live outside of the Keystone State, good luck finding this flavor. It’s almost entirely limited to Pennsylvania.
