Members of the military community have a chance to ask two NFL players a question during the Procter & Gamble Military ProCamps Virtual Kick-off event on Feb. 16.
Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones and Washington Football Team defensive tackle Jonathan Allen will host the event from 1-3 p.m., according to a DeCA release. The first 200 registrants will receive a digitally signed photo from the athletes.
Participants can register for the kick-off event by going here. Everyone who registers will be able to submit a question to ask the athletes and will also be entered into an event raffle.
The event officially kickoffs the annual P&G-sponsored NFL ProCamps program for thousands of military children worldwide. P&G is partnering with DeCA, the Army and Air Force Exchange, the Navy Exchange Service Command, the Marine Corps Exchange and the Coast Guard Exchange to host the event.
“This is the ninth year of the ProCamps program and to date we have hosted over 90 football camps for military kids all over the world,” said Molly Fanning, vice president of Partnership Marketing.
Both the Packers and the Washington Football Team have close military ties. Jones’s parents were both in the military: His father retired as an Army command sergeant major and his mother retired as a sergeant major. Allen’s father retired as an Army sergeant first class and his brother currently serves as an Army staff sergeant.
Ordinarily, P&G military resale organizations partner to sponsor two-day football camps for winning military bases worldwide. Installations qualify for a camp based on sales of designated P&G products at their local commissaries and exchanges, and customers can have their say by voting through mobile texting from Feb. 26 to April 11. Customers will also see mass product displays in participating stores.
Last year’s in-person camps became virtual events in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, the status of the in-person ProCamps is still to-be-determined based upon COVID.
“We are hoping to be able to do in-person camps, but if on-base activities and large gatherings are still not allowed we will be doing virtual events again like last summer,” Fanning said.
Instructions and a link to the event will be emailed out to those who register a few days before the virtual event.
