100 years ago (1923), it was reported that Wichita’s newest realty venture was going to be undertaken by H.T. Lynch and Alton Smith; it was the platting of a 160-acre subdivision lying four miles east of Main & Douglas, with 80 acres north and 80 acres south of Douglas.
The property belonged to Lynch, and was divided into one- and two-acre tracts; the winding streets & lanes would be paved in the fall of 1923.
Smith planned to extend Douglas east of Woodlawn at the start of the project. This would become the future location of Eastborough.
