Police arrested a 15-year-old boy, who now faces a murder charge in connection with a fatal shooting Monday afternoon in the northwest part of Wichita.
The suspect is accused of shooting a 14-year-old boy during an incident in a residential backyard; the victim was hospitalized, and later died.
A police investigation found four teenage boys, ranging in age from 14 to 18 years old, were in the backyard at the time of the shooting. Officers found a gun at the scene.
Officers were alerted to the shooting by a RAVEN gunshot system, which detected gunfire in the area.
The shooting happened near 25th Street North & Arkansas, in the 2600 block of N. Fairview.
