Wichita Police have arrested a 15-year-old Wichita boy on one count of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a firearm by a juvenile.
The charges stem from a shooting Friday night that fatally wounded Seaquori Smith, 16, of Wichita.
Officers were called to the scene in the 2200 block of South Millwood around 8:30 p.m. They found Smith inside the residence with a single gunshot wound to his upper body. He was transported to a local hospital where he died.
Police say Smith was hanging out inside the residence with the suspect, who was recklessly manipulating a firearm when a single shot was fired, striking Smith. The suspect called 911 and reported the incident.
The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office. The investigation is ongoing.
