Wichita Police are investigating an injury accident that claimed the life of an 18-year-old Wichita man.
It happened around 11 Saturday night. Officers responded to the scene at Central and Greenwich and found Brennan Peshek in critical condition.
Police say that Peshek and a 19-year-old man were racing their cars when the lane Peshek was in ended, and his vehicle stuck the curb, a tree and a pole. He was taken to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Meanwhile, as officers were blocking traffic on Greenwich investigating the fatal accident, a 28-year-old man approached the scene at high-speed. An Eastborough officer assisting in blocking traffic flashed her flashlight to get the driver's attention but was unsuccessful. The man's truck side-swiped an occupied police truck and an unoccupied patrol vehicle, causing the man's truck to overturn. The driver and his 35-year-old female passenger sustained only minor injuries. No officers were injured. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the second crash.
