According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, two adolescent girls have been detained in connection with a 2023 killing that had been unresolved for months.
Joanne Johnson, 93, was discovered dead at her home in Augusta on September 3, 2023. Authorities stated Johnson was slain between September 2 and September 3.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation says two 14-year-old females from Augusta were arrested Thursday on suspicion of first-degree murder in connection to Johnson's death.
The teens are being held in separate juvenile detention centers, and formal charges are pending.
The KBI says it is still an ongoing investigation.
