50 years ago on this night (1974), rock 'n' roll superstar Elvis Presley performed live in concert at Levitt Arena on the Wichita State University campus at 21st & Hillside; there were 10,000 people in attendance.

This was the third of four appearances by Presley in Wichita throughout the years, and the second of three concerts at Levitt Arena during the 1970s.

The listed time for the Wichita concert was 8:30 p.m., and tickets were available for $10. Arriving traffic for the concert was backed up from 21st Street all the way to 13th.

For the Wichita concert, Presley was arrayed in his Mad Tiger jumpsuit, a white jumpsuit with a tiger design in embroidery, complete with the original Mad Tiger belt; his musicians were wearing yellow suits.

Elvis performed 23 songs for this Wichita concert, opening with CC Rider. His set included: Blue Suede Shoes; Fever; Love Me Tender; Hound Dog; All Shook Up; Teddy Bear; Don't Be Cruel; Johnny B. Good; and the Hawaiian Wedding Song. At the very end of the concert, Presley finished with Can't Help Falling in Love With You.

It was a hectic tour for Presley; he'd performed two shows the day before (Sunday) in Dayton, Ohio. Presley then performed Monday night in Wichita, and right back at it Tuesday night in San Antonio.

Commemorative painted plates of Elvis' concert in Wichita may still be found for sale online.
