After several inches of rain during the past week, the overall drought picture across Kansas looks a little different, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
Last week, nearly 4% of the state was in 'extreme' drought -- but this week, all of that classification is gone, down to 0%.
Almost 32% of Kansas last week was considered to be in at least 'severe' drought, which has now dropped to 11%.
And last week, 77% of the state was at least classified as being in a 'moderate' drought -- and that has now dropped to about 54% of the state.
(The numbers add up in excess of 100% because of overlapping numbers among the drought classifications.)
Most parts of the state, including Wichita, are now under the classification of “abnormally dry.”
