AAA estimates nearly 113 million Americans will travel more than 50 miles from home during this holiday season. Shawn Steward of AAA/Kansas tells KNSS News about 93% of holiday travelers in Kansas will be driving to their destinations, and an estimated 50,000 Kansans will be flying to their destinations.
Steward says AAA road crews expect to make 3,000 roadside assistance calls in Kansas over the holidays, with batteries and tires the source of most of the problems. Steward says a winter emergency kit is recommended because if you get stuck it could take some time to get help. Make sure your cell phone is charged up.
This is expected to be the third busiest year for holiday travel since TAAA began tracking in 2000.
