
An accident involving a semi tanker truck closed a portion of the Kansas Turnpike. It happened around 5:20 p.m. Thursday afternoon between Kellogg and 127th street.

The semi, carrying anhydrous ammonia was found resting on its side in the median. Both the northbound and southbound lanes were closed due to a potential hazardous leak.
Drivers were asked to avoid I-35 between mile markers 50 and 53.
All lanes along the turnpike were reopened as of 9:54 p.m. Thursday night.
