Additional reward offered in Augusta murder investigation

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Augusta Department of Public Safety announced an additional $5,000 reward to help solve a September 2023 murder.

Joanne Johnson, 93, of Augusta, was found dead in her home by a family member last Labor Day weekend. Authorities believe she was killed between Saturday evening, September 2 and Sunday evening, September 3.

Governor Laura Kelly’s executive order offering that $5,000 reward, along with the family’s match, increases the total reward to $10,000.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the KBI at 1-800-KS-CRIME or Augusta Crime Stoppers at 316-775-0055. Anonymous tips can also be submitted online to the KBI and the Augusta Crime Stoppers Facebook page.
