City officials are looking at the Jensen Hughes study of the Wichita Police Department. Mayor Brandon Whipple tells KNSS News there's a lot to consider as the process moves forward. He says the consultant interviewed "an overwhelming majority" of Wichita police officers, asking them what they think about working in the city of Wichita. They then compared that input with WPD's policies and goals.
Whipple says the report provides "us with a path forward" to ensure that the City is doing what they say they do, and that the new police chief has the "tools" he needs to be successful.
City officials are looking at a 400 million-dollar proposal to revamp downtown Wichita. Mayor Whipple says that's a lot of money and the City will need the public's input. He says the final plan may be up for a public vote.
Whipple commented during Mondays with the Mayor on the Steve and Ted in the Morning Show on KNSS.
