Aurora-mania: Northern Lights wow Kansas residents Tuesday evening

Kansans got a rare brilliant view of the Northern Lights on Tuesday evening; the Aurora Borealis was brought on during severe solar storms producing the colorful auroras.

A very strong geomagnetic storm surprised many by showing off the Northern Lights as far south as Central Texas; the Northern Lights are usually only seen in the northernmost U.S. states, such as Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan.

Tuesday night brought vivid views for areas across the northern half of the United States.

The aurorae could be visible over Kansas again on Wednesday evening, if the charged particles heading towards earth land in the right areas.
