The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), the Pittsburg Police Department, and the Crawford County Sheriff's Office say the death of a man in Pittsburg is a result of homicide.
Pittsburg Police received a 911 call at approximately 2:30 Friday afternoon, reporting a shooting. Police located the victim, David Duane Mays, 51, of Weir, Kan., in the roadway near 1023 N Main in Pittsburg, Kan. Mays suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.
The investigation revealed an altercation took place, which ultimately resulted in gunfire.
Collin Pal Gebford, 43, of Hutchinson, was arrested without incident and booked into the Crawford County Jail on charges of suspicion of attempted premeditated first degree murder and felony murder.
Another suspect, Travis Blake Conness, 32, of Neosho, Mo was located and arrested for the same charges, then booked into jail.
Another male victim was identified, questioned by police and released.
An autopsy will be performed on Tuesday.
