Local, regional, and state officials are gathering in Wichita Wednesday for the Kansas Department of Transportation's annual regional planning meeting. Sedgwick County Commission Chair Ryan Baty tells KNSS News the aim is to prioritize future highway projects they would like to see in "the KDOT pipeline." One need, says Baty, is Kellogg and Ridge Road near the entrance to Eisenhower Airport. Baty calls it "pretty archaic."
Baty also mentions the canal route, the largest bridge in the state of Kansas, running through the middle of Wichita. He says the infrastructure is deteriorating.
Baty says he thinks a northwest expressway is coming. He says the state and Sedgwick County have spent millions to acquire land for the highway from Maize to Goddard and it doesn't make sense to do nothing.
Baty commented during his weekly appearance on the Steve and Ted in the Morning Show on KNSS.
